Each year, RHI impacts the lives of over 6,500 residents of Red Hook. RHI’s model confronts the systems and barriers that perpetuate poverty for the Red Hook community. Youth and residents are given tools, resources and opportunities with which they can lead the way toward a more equitable, hopeful future.

Empowering Youth
  • 100% of participants believe they can make a positive change in their community.
  • 85% of participants feel like they gained peer education experience through facilitating a workshop, running a group, or leading an activity.
  • 48 young people completed Career Starter Series
  • 12 articles published on issues related to the Red Hook community
Building Community
  • 24,688 COVID-19 tests, masks ad bottles of hand sanitizers were distributed
  • 217,000 in emergency relief to Red Hook residents during the pandemic and financial crisis
  • 1,800 meals distributed to the Red Hook community through our Open Streets community lunch initiative
Investing in Residents
  • $429,631 earned by Youth Leaders and young adults working to create positive change in Red Hook, in roles like: Peer Health Educators, Youth Organizers, Peer Navigators, Photojournalists, Public Safety Organizers, and Youth Farmers
  • $1.5M earned last year by people from Red Hook through staff salaries, stipends, or contracts with local businesses
  • 40 young adults secured employment, started college, or enrolled in vocational training within six months of completing RHI’s workforce development program
